Reports to: Director of Homeownership Programs
Salary range: $58,500 – $60,000
Start date: As soon as possible

Plus 1 Accessory Dwelling Unit Program Overview:

Through a partnership with the New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal, the Housing Action Council, and Pace University, Habitat NYC and Westchester is undertaking the creation and legalization of Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) in four municipalities in Westchester County. Through our Plus 1 ADU program, Habitat will work with low to moderate income homeowners in Bedford, Dobbs Ferry, Irvington, and Hastings to create a total of 35 ADUs to operate as rental units. The benefits of this program are two pronged—via both development and preservation strategies. The program aims to deliver additional rental housing units in these 4 geographies, while also creating additional housing and income opportunities for low to moderate income homeowners, supporting them to remain in their homes long-term. Habitat NYC and Westchester has been awarded grant funds to deliver ADUs to income eligible homeowners who occupy privately owned, owner-occupied homes in Westchester County.

Position Description:

The Plus 1 ADU Outreach Coordinator is responsible for leading the programmatic, client-facing duties of Habitat’s Plus 1 ADU program. Habitat for Humanity will provide the home repair expertise and staff; our partners at Pace will provide legal and technical expertise on ADU zoning and ordinances; and Housing Action Council will support with community and municipality outreach and coordination.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct client communications from initial discussions on program availability and eligibility through to conclusion of work, and to develop and maintain excellent client communications throughout process.
  • Participate in marketing/outreach efforts and community events.
  • Collect application materials and track progress in client management system.
  • Process and qualify program applications in accordance with Westchester Habitat and funder guidelines.
  • Client “Pipeline” management and matching of clients to applicable funding sources.
  • Conduct periodic site visits with construction program staff and independently to assess site conditions and work progress, and prepare and provide site reports to team.
  • Organize orientations/assessments for new clients in person and written.
  • Coordinate with Grant Manager to ensure all applicant eligibility information and program costs are within grant guidelines to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local government funding as well as private funding sources.
  • Periodic reporting to funders and internal stakeholders, and devise assessments of the program for internal and external use.
    • Develop and maintain a client survey and conduct follow-up communications.
    • Collect and analyze program and demographic data.
  • Work with Habitat staff, local agencies and municipalities to promote the project and liaise with members of the community sharing the mission of the program and collaboratively seek additional ways to improve the program and expand it in the community.
  • Respect the confidentiality of clients.

Qualifications:

  • College degree or certification in project management, or 2-5 years equivalent experience.
  • Spanish Comprehension.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite & Adobe Acrobat and ideally experience working with database management software, such as Salesforce.
  • Reliable transportation to job sites in various locations throughout Westchester County, a valid New York Driver’s License and current automotive liability insurance.
  • General knowledge of grants, both public and private, and their data and budgetary requirements, grants management a plus.
  • Familiarity with construction documents such as scopes of work, contracts, and bids.

Additional Preferred Experience: 

  • Three years’ experience managing government and private grants
  • Working with Westchester County and/or New York State housing Programs
  • Working in Affordable housing and/or construction
  • Running income verification and background checks

Location, hours: 

This position is a full-time, hybrid position with ability to conduct administrative tasks remotely and report to either office location as needed, with some required department-specific office days. This position requires travel throughout Westchester County consistently for site visits.

Habitat for Humanity New York City and Westchester County has two office locations: one in New York City at 111 John St. 7th Floor Suite 770 NY NY 10038; and another in Westchester County at 55 Broadway 2nd Floor Tarrytown, NY 10591.

Monday-Friday 9am – 5pm EST, evenings and weekends as required.
