Habitat Young Professionals

Habitat Young Professionals (HYP) is a membership-based initiative comprised of industry leaders and housing justice advocates, who leverage their skills and engage their networks in support of Habitat NYC and Westchester. Through advocacy and fundraising efforts, HYP members work to actualize Habitat NYC and Westchester’s vision to build a more equitable New York.

Connect

  • “Habitat for Humanity serves such an important role in equalizing access to affordable housing through advocacy, policy reform, and community organization. When I was looking for a way to give back to my community, I knew this was the cause I wanted to be part of.”
    Nadia K.
    HYP Board Member
  • “My first experience with Habitat was working with the team helping those who had their entire life wiped away in Hurricane Sandy. That was a really tough time for the tri-state area, and coming together with Habitat and my community to help those who lost everything left a lasting impression.”
    Andrew L.
    Treasurer, HYP
  • “I joined HYP because I want to contribute my time and resources towards supporting Habitat for Humanity’s mission alongside a group of like-minded people. Individuals and families may be unable to prioritize tackling some of the world’s biggest problems without first feeling secure enough to meet their own basic needs, including having safety and shelter.”
    Alexis W.
    Vice Chair, HYP

As Fundraising Chair, I am thankful to be given the chance to engage with our community to raise finances, so we can continue to operate and enact Habitat’s broader vision of providing everyone with a decent place to live. Habitat has been a constant in my life since my time as an undergraduate in Pittsburgh. I have previously attended multiple spring break home builds and have been actively involved in construction and demolition on over 20 homes in the Pittsburgh area prior to moving to NYC.
