One of the most exciting developments in Habitat for Humanity New York City and Westchester County’s pre-development pipeline is Stevenson Commons. A joint venture with Camber Property Group, Stevenson Commons is a proposed 58-unit, two-building future affordable homeownership opportunity in the Bronx. 16 units will have the 1843 Seward Avenue address, with the remaining 42 units having the 1847 Seward Avenue address.
The project features a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom units, with 11 one-bedroom, 31 two-bedroom and 16 three-bedroom units. All units will be affordable with incomes up to 80% AMI.
Stevenson Commons has been designed to maintain contextual congruency with its surroundings and will feature block and plank construction. Block and plank is a construction method that uses concrete masonry units as the bearing walls, with precast concrete plank over the top, to form the combination ceiling and floor, of the next level. Block and plank construction has fireproof elements, and is extremely efficient if there are repetitive layouts in a multi-family construction project.
