OCEAN HILL-BROWNSVILLE, BROOKLYN, NY

In early 2016, Habitat NYC and Westchester began construction on our newest development, the Dean Street Residences. Located in the Ocean-Hill/Brownsville section of Bedford-Stuyvesant in Brooklyn, Dean Street is a four-story, multi-family building, comprising 15 two-bedroom apartments. Each unit is affordable for working families earning 50–80 percent of New York City’s average median income (AMI).

Among the building’s many amenities are a landscaped rear yard and on-site laundry facilities. Dean Street is also a certified Enterprise Green Communities building, meaning residents benefit from lowered utility costs and a more sustainable environment.

Habitat homebuyers have invested at least 250 hours of “sweat equity” and a one percent down payment, and they have access to a 30-year, low interest, fixed rate mortgage provided by the State of New York Mortgage Agency (SONYMA).
