Reports to: ReStore Manager
Employee Status: Hourly, 35–40 hours a week, Monday–Friday
Compensation: $18/hour
Job Overview: This position is responsible for picking up ReStore donations from Individual Donors & Corporate Donors, assessing the donation’s suitability, safely packing the merchandise in the ReStore truck, and driving to the ReStore to unload merchandise. The Driver must act as a “Donation Ambassador” of Habitat for Humanity ReStore while interacting with Donors and Corporations. This position is based at 470 Nepperhan Ave., Yonkers NY 10701.
Detail of Responsibilities:
- Working with and managing volunteers.
- Drive Habitat NYC vehicles to pick-up and deliver donated goods
- Load and unload all donated materials.
- Maintenance checks of HFHNYC ReStore vehicles.
- Evaluate donations for ReStore suitability.
- Providing a Charitable Donation Receipt at the time of donation pick up.
- Must have willingness to learn cash register POS system.
- Communicating with ReStore Manager regarding incoming donations.
- Maintain an effective working relationship with ReStore donors, staff, volunteers, and customers.
- Daily cleaning and straightening of ReStore loading/processing areas.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience as a Driver of Commercial vehicles in New York City.
- Knowledge of NYC “Commercial Vehicle Restrictions” of certain roadways.
- Must be a good listener and be able to engage in well-considered discussions.
- Must have good anticipatory abilities and personally act as need arises.
- Must be willing to understand the big picture of Habitat for Humanity NYC and Westchester and know that ReStore is only a part of the larger goal.
Physical demands:
- Required to lift 50 pounds regularly / required to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally.
- Will experience frequent lifting, bending, squatting, and repetitive motion.
- Ability to spend majority of the day driving, standing, moving heavy items.
- This position will occasionally be exposed to extremes in weather (e.g., heat, cold, wind, rain, snow, etc.).
- Work may require using GPS, power tools, climbing ladders, considerable standing, bending, kneeling, and reaching in awkward and tiring positions.
Position Requirements
- Experience as a Driver of Commercial vehicles in New York City.

Must pass Criminal Background Check, and DMV check

Must have valid NY State driver’s license, and a clean driving record.

This position is a 5-day work week.

Ability to speak Spanish a plus but not required.
